Yay, Battlestar Galactica is coming back!!!

I just got an email from my friend, Todd who works with me on set. Battlestar Galactica has been renewed for a 4th Season! Production begins May 14, 2007 and will be going well into mid February 2008. It's shot here in Vancouver which means a lot of us background performers are coming back for continuity. I love working on this show and watching it too. It's always been a pleasure serving on the Galactica. Like Todd said, "Battlestar It's-back-tica!" Click on the blog title for more information.

Kyle XY

Well, I worked on this TV series this morning, which is filming it's second season now. We shot at Vancouver's old cruise ship terminal on the city's east side. There was only one scene for us to work on, so it was a pretty easy day. Then again, it's not like our work is hard to begin with anyway, LOL... Vancouver Canucks Trade!!!

The Canucks made two new trades this afternoon. They reacquired Brent Sopel from the Los Angeles Kings for a second and a fourth-round draft pick. Also coming to Vancouver, Bryan Smolinski from the Chicago Blackhawks for a conditional second-round draft pick. I actually liked Sopel when he played for us, it was Marc Crawford who had a problem with him. Which is probably one of the reasons he's back here, since Crawford's coaching the Kings now. We were always looking for another centre, so Smolinski is a pretty good pick. He can play centre or on the wing. Overall, I like the moves the Canucks made. Click the blog title for more information on the trade.

Cards with the 'Tards...

Yeah, it was a night of chillin' for the boys on Saturday. We all went to Henry and Betty's to play our monthly Texas Hold'em Poker tournament. We've started to keep track on who's winning because the one with the most wins at the end of the season gets a Champion bracelet and their name on a trophy. Here in the top photo are players: Bruce, Hugh, Bryan, Doug, and Henry. Hey, that's me to the left beside Bruce. Dude brewed up a storm with his ass, chemical warfare I tell you! It comes in handy during a game to throw off an opponent into playing on tilt. I only won one tournie last night. Our hosts that evening, Betty, Henry, and their daughter, Allison. Allison is being groomed to be the next Annie Duke. We have to do something about the thumb sucking though, it's a sure tell in the game, LOL.

ROBOTECH: The Shadow Chronicles

I just watched this earlier today, it's really good. I was a big fan of Robotech when I was younger, so it's great to see them bring out a new series after all these years (20). The storyline takes place right after "Robotech: The New Generation" series. It took me a while to get used to the new CGI, incorporated with the regular animation, but it works. It looks very promising, but I must admit I miss the old way the mecha was drawn in the original series. Aside of that, this movie is still a must see amongst Robotech fans, old and new. Duffin's Donuts

Ah yes, good old Duffin's Donuts on the corner of East 41st Avenue and Knight Street in Vancouver. If you want great tasting sandwiches for good value, this is the place to go. Their hot torta sub has made them quite popular amongst the locals. We stopped by for a bite on our way to Future Shop. Here's my buddy, Rich waiting for our order. He would later get a $45 parking ticket for leaving his car on West Broadway at Future Shop during rush hour. Aaahaaa, what a dumbass!!!

I love this "μtorrent" thing!!!

The Virgin Of Akron, Ohio

Well, I worked on this new series today outside of Vancouver's Art Gallery in downtown. Nothing too special, we were only used in one scene, but it was good to see some familiar faces. Bombyx, Jacob, and I, the "Dungeon Siege" alumni. LOL... Our wrangler Crystal, hard at work... The boys just chillin' outside... Christian showing us how to create beats on his laptop. He's gonna be the next Neptune!!! And it's always fun to see Vernard, too bad Julia wasn't with us. We would have had blast, but there's always next time. The film industry is still slow right now, but March is coming around the corner and it should pick up soon.

Canadian Cell Phone Users, Don't Forget!!!

As of March 14, 2007, Canadians will own their current phone numbers and have the choice to switch to any cellular provider. Which means your current provider is going to try to lock you into a term contract as soon as possible before this date. No matter what they offer you, try to hold out and do not renew your contract. The deals are just going to get even better after the 14th, so wait and shop around because you'll have more bargaining power. I'm with Telus Mobility right now, but when my contract is finished with them, I'll probably go with Rogers or Fido. I just hate how Telus restricts some of the software on their cell phones. They want you to buy ring tones and wallpaper from their site, when you could make all of that yourself. A lot of the new phones have that capability when you sync it to a computer, but Telus and Bell Mobility disable that feature in the phones they sell you. I've already purchased a GSM phone from the Philippines and it's unlocked, which means I can take it anywhere around the world and use it, as long as it has a SIM card. It'll be the phone I use when I sign-up with Rogers or Fido. Click on the blog title for more information on the law change. Anyways, good luck hunting people.

The Quality Of Life: A Dominic da Vinci Movie

Hycroft Mansion in Vancouver's westside, this is where I did some extra work today. It's actually a pretty common location used in Vancouver's film industry. Yup, here I am with Jen and Marie hard at work, enjoying all the goodies from crafties.

A Real Life Hero Finally Recognized...

So earlier today, I get a call from my friend Alex asking if I wanted to attend an award ceremony. "There's gonna be some food," he says. I thought at first it was for some animation job he did, but it turned out he was finally being recognized by the Vancouver Police Department and the city for something he did early last year. These photos were taken at the Roundhouse in Vancouver's Yaletown. Alex's family and I were there to witness Vancouver's Police Chief Constable Jamie H. Graham and Mayor Sam Sullivan present Alex with the Vancouver Police Board's Certificate of Merit, the highest award for civilian bravery. Here's what the certificate said, "If you could save a woman's life by jumping into the dark chilly waters of False Creek, would you? If you knew there was a good chance that it was too late to save her life, would you dive in anyway? Most of us probably would not, but most of us are not Alexander Kleider. On the night of January 30, 2006, Mr. Kleider was standing underneath the north side of the Burrard Street bridge when a woman jumped from the bridge deck, plunging into the water far below. Mr. Kleider immediately peeled off some of his heavy winter clothing and dove into the cold dark water. He fought the strong currents as he swam to the centre of the inlet and fought them once again to bring the woman back to shore. Exhausted and shivering he never gave up his efforts to save the woman's life. He performed CPR, but the woman's injuries from the fall proved fatal. Mr. Kleider placed his own life at risk and against formidable odds fought with all his strength to save the life of a stranger. The Vancouver Police Department proudly awards its highest honour for civilian bravery, the Vancouver Police Board's Certificate of Merit, to Mr. Alexander Kleider." Suprisingly, Minaz Kurji a high school classmate of mine from Killarney Secondary, also received the Certificate of Merit today for a completely different ordeal. I must admit, I was quite proud to see our boy on the stage, but the highlight of the story was when he accepted the award from the Chief. The Constable told Alex quietly, that if he ever needed a job to come talk to him. Aaaaawww yeeeaaahhh, way to go Fatty!!!

Chewy's New Family

Yes it's true, that's the famous Chewbacca from the Star Wars movies. He's still hasn't gotten over the adoption of Baby Chewie. Currently, Chewie lives with his new parents Alex and Veronique. He still wears an ammunition belt to keep true to his roots.

Chewy's Family Ties

These are the rest of Chewy's relatives at a reunion on the Planet Kashyyyk.

Chewy

This is Chewy, the smallest Wookiee on Planet Earth. Here he is exploring and charting the terrain of Lighthouse Park.
