Volunteer Work & Hockey

I was down at the studios on Byrne Road again, but this time to do some volunteer work. A directors workshop for sitcoms was taking place this week and they needed a few of us to do some acting! We used the various stages on the "Mr. Young" set to do some filming. It was actually my first time at this stage and this workshop was the first of its kind in BC! American sitcom directors flew-up here to teach their various techniques to Canadian directors. The "Mr. Young" TV series shoots with a live studio audience, so if you want to take part in the laughter next season, give them a call at 604-433-0779. What was supposed to be a volunteer stand-in job, turned into a free actors workshop for me and the others! The experience was great and we all had so much fun! :-)

Big thanks to ShowBiz Management and to Sandra Ken Freeman for this opportunity!!! In the evening, it was time to do some skating! Bruce and a couple of his friends came out tonight. "I'm gonna carve you up!" AlMo in the house! Rich! Steve! We got lucky on tonight's session. The rink attendant didn't come to kick us off the ice when our time was up, so we played for an extra hour! The Oval is an incredible facility. I still can't get over the fact that we use an elevator to get to the change rooms. LOL! "I want to be on Team Jacob!"

Hockey at the Oval

Now, this was a first for all of us, playing at the Richmond Olympic Oval! Stef booked a couple of nights for us to play on this international ice surface. Here comes Rich! This ice rink is so big! It's really pretty here! Rich actually got a goal tonight! Check out my new helmet! "Nice jersey, Mike!" My linemate, Glen... It's quite the experience playing on this ice surface. There's definitely a lot more skating involved. ;-)

The Richmond Olympic Oval was on my way to work today! Herb (ShowBiz Management) and Anelore (JR Talent) were also here to work on this commercial which is due to air during the next Super Bowl. Production: Click the entry's title. Type of Call: Approx. 40 Background. Length of Call: 4 3/4 hours.

Cycling in Richmond

Thought I'd go for a bike ride today since the weather was so nice. Man, the blossoms are so pretty in our neighbourhood! I wanted to ride over the Canada Line's bridge to Richmond. It's got a nice wide path. A nice view too! Enter MOMO. On the Bridgeport Road Bridge... Posing with my ride... I rode to the end of one of YVR's landing strips to watch the planes come in. Reminds me of "Wayne's World". Here comes another one. I wasn't the only one here. It's very scenic here. Beneath Bridgeport Road... Whoa! Check it out, it's a hovercraft! That's the Richmond Olympic Oval! You don't see this everyday. The view from the No. 2 Road Bridge... Underneath the bridge... I wanted to take a closer look at the hovercraft. I had no idea what they were doing, but I was still impressed by the ship. It's so sad. They're dismantling all the Olympic decorations. I love how it was nicknamed 'The ROO'. I rode further down the path and came across this Inukshuk. It's good to be riding again. The sun was on it's way down. There goes another plane. MOMO... I think this is a sculpture of a Canadian Goose. This was one noisy duck. Back over the bridge... It's neat how the train is so close overhead. I have returned.
