Gone Curling!

Before going curling, I met-up with Niki this afternoon at Surrey's Central City to buy some Cream Puffs from Beard Papa's. Then we had some dinner at Olive Garden! We were so full that we weren't able to eat the Cream Puffs yet. We finally arrived at the Langley Curling Club! They're holding an open house for beginner curlers! They thought the Olympics would bring interest to the sport and they were right! Here we are receiving orientation. On the ice now, learning how to sweep... LOL! Niki throws her first rock... I was teacher's pet! ;) It was a little tricky at first, but I got the hang of it. There's the other group learning the ropes. The rocks... PBO throwing... She fell on her ass after letting go! LOL! We were all having fun learning the sport! "Go Niki, Go!" The staff here were so awesome! And friendly too. Niki throws another... Time for me to sweep! LOL! It was tiring! "Let's do it again!" I got some help this time. "Hurry! Hurry Hard!" Man with Broom... Tomorrow is the last day of their open house. The ice is getting melted at the beginning of next month. I'd come again, but I have to work. :( A couple of shots from above... You can't go wrong with free lessons. Our experience gave me a new found respect for this winter sport and its players. They've got skills! After our session, we finally got a chance to gorge on our dessert! Gratitude towards the instructors and to Niki for a fun day!!!

Olympic Men's Curling: Session 1

I went down to the Vancouver Olympic Centre this morning. Everyone here was lining-up for the first day of Curling! I had no idea the sport was this popular. This venue is awesome! Check-out this guy's camouflaged telephoto lens. I never thought I would make it to an Olympic event, but thanks to Mikko's generosity, that changed today! There's Jeff. We couldn't get over the amount of people in attendance here. There's Canadian Kevin Martin! We had a good view from our seats. The Canadians were taking on the Norwegians in this session. Big thanks to Mikko for these seats!!! The Americans played against the Germans. The Swiss versus the Danish... I brought our flag! The Norwegians wore these crazy pants! They looked like court jesters. Some people in the crowd began to chant, "Where did you buy those pants?!?" I loved them! I walked around to get another vantage point. I can see Jeff from here! There he is. The Canadians and the Norwegians played a tight match. They ended-up playing an extra round because they were tied after 10! The crowd was so excited.
