Ending on a High Note

Well, it's official. The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games has ended. Canada may not have owned the podium, but we did own the top of it! Thanks to the storybook ending that the whole country wished for, Team Canada added another GOLD Medal to our total, making it 14! It's the most any country has won in the Winter Olympics! Hell yeah!!! Apparently, Canada's win yesterday in the Men's Team Pursuit at the Richmond Olympic Oval was the last race ever to be skated at the awesome venue. They're going to melt the ice and turn it into a fitness centre now. At least the ROO's ice ended on a high note with a GOLD Medal performance by Mathieu Giroux, Lucas Makowsky, and Denny Morrison. Way to go guys!!! Thanks to Jeff, I experienced the biggest party in the world. I was going to schedule my LA trip during the games and stay away from Vancouver all together. He advised me against making that decision. Due to his counsel, I have so many memorable moments of the Olympics like going down the zip-line over Robson Square! Thanks to Gayle's video, I was able to screen capture myself wearing the Canadian flag as I descended. These past 17 days were so unforgettable. I'm going to miss watching the Olympics and the fact that it was in our own city. It's hard to believe it's all over now. I'm kind of sad. :(

Canada vs Slovakia

Rory, Fred, Alice, Alma, and I killing some time on Cambie Street before the game. PBO doing background... "I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis." We ordered a bunch of appetizers here at the Sin Bin. Jody came down to join us. Rob and Arlene met-up with us too. The boys and girls at the other table did a shotski! I liked what I saw from above. Arlene and Rob are originally from Calgary, but they've been living here for awhile now. These Sweet Chili Wings were my favourite! Yeah whatever, we won. Look, there's Melody Davidson, the coach of the Women's Team Canada Hockey Team! Craziness on Robson Street after the game... Virgins to the "Ignite the Dream" light show... The CTV Broadcast Booth here is so popular! There's the Germany Saxony House! They've been holding a disco night here everyday since the games started. And it's free! We didn't go in because there was quite the line-up, so I just took this photo of the marina.

McGunigals in the House!

I met-up with Rory and Alice tonight at Joe Fortes. They arrived in the city a couple of days ago. What the fuck?!? I thought Fred was with Alma on a plane over here. LOL! We were all excited to watch Joannie Rochette's free skate tonight. All eyes and ears on the tube... We were all happy when Joannie won the BRONZE Medal, but I was so scared American skater, Mirai Nagasu was gonna knock her off the podium. Thankfully, that didn't happen. Sweet Potato Fries! Rory and Alice with their other friends from Calgary, Marlowe and Shannon... A lot of celebrities come to this restaurant. We saw Mike Peca and Alain Vigneault on our way out. The McGunigals and the Olympic Cauldron... We walked over to Robson Square to watch the light show! I kept saying, "Man, those Olympic folks sure know how to put on a show!" Someone's waving our Canadian flag! Fire! Lights! Holy shit! It's awesome! It was my first time seeing this. They've been doing it every night since the games started. Everyone seems to love it! After the light show, the throngs of people made their way over to the CTV Broadcast Booth. I hear this voice behind me say, "I'll take your picture." It was Angel and Boom! Alice with the giant Russian decorated pots... We ended our night at Alice and Rory's friend's place in West End.
